His research interests include wet age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and the treatment of advanced diabetic retinopathy. Dhalla completed his Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery and diseases at the renowned Barnes Retina Institute at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. ![]() He then went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan where he was honored the Jan Rival Award, and named the most outstanding resident across all specialties in the Henry Ford Health System. “My parents recognized my innate interest in intricate details, visual optics, and naturally nurtured me towards ophthalmology.” He graduated from the Honors Program in Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine earning both a Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree in only six years with the prestigious Medical Board of Trustees scholarship. ![]() Dhalla’s interest in medicine began during childhood as he learned the value of healing the pains of others from his physician parents.
